New Delhi: With just 70 days until the start of the Champions Trophy 2025 and no schedule released by the ICC, there is a cloud of uncertainty hanging over the tournament. The situation escalated when India announced they would not be sending their team to Pakistan citing security concerns. The dispute over the tournament venue is still ongoing, but there seems to be a glimmer of hope with the introduction of the hybrid model, which could potentially pave the way for a resolution.
Sports Tak’s report sheds some light on the hybrid method expected to be used for the 2025 Champions Trophy. India is set to compete in a neutral territory, while the rest of the event will be hosted by Pakistan. Supposing India makes it to the semi-finals, these matches and the final will be transferred to the impartial venue. On the flip side, if India gets knocked out earlier, Rawalpindi will host the semi-final, and the grand finale will be in Lahore.
As a reciprocal gesture, the PCB is set to make history by hosting an ICC women’s tournament for the first time ever in Pakistan, post 2027.
The upcoming face-off in the T20 World Cup 2026 between arch-rivals India and Pakistan will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, crossing out the prospect of teams having to journey to India for the showdown.
The Pakistan Cricket Board had put in a plea for compensation if India decided to pull back from visiting Pakistan for the Champions Trophy in 2025. Despite this, the International Cricket Council rendered no financial relief to the cricket governing body of Pakistan.
The findings suggest that the ICC, PCB, and BCCI are collectively pleased with the reached accord.
